Introduction

Cowes Week is a key part of the British sporting calendar taking place in early August each year. These dates result from early traditions when the great and the good came to Cowes between Goodwood and the Glorious Twelfth – day one of the grouse shooting season. The event is a great mix of competitive sailing and a vibrant social scene and has evolved enormously since the early days; it now attracts up to 1,000 competing boats, around 8,500 competitors and at least 100,000 visitors.

Looking for a suitable angle?

Come over to Cowes and you will go away with a story. The event provides some of the best human interest stories around and our media and news teams can do a lot of the spade work for you.

Cowes Week is renowned for bringing people together from all walks of life and from across the globe; young and old, men and women, disabled and able-bodied, amateur and professional.

Often the most heart-warming stories are the ones that stretch the imagination. There are individuals racing who show incredible courage in the face of adversity; sailors who are blind or limbless or paralysed competing alongside their able-bodied peers; plus of course we also frequently play host to royalty and rock stars (musical and sailing!) as well as a sprinkling of sporting and television personalities – most getting fully immersed in the competitive spirit of the racing action.

There's something for everyone

The racing action sees Olympic and world champions competing against weekend sailors; chasing down the very best in gold, silver and the finest cut glass trophies.

Focus on the serious sailing fun, plus lifestyle, fashion, famous faces, health and fitness, parties and social functions, travel and tourism – mix this all in with the visual impact of the regatta and you have something quite phenomenal.

We can arrange for you to get out on a boat or you may just prefer to people watch and soak up the atmosphere.

It’s spectacular and it’s fun; we’d love you to be a part of it. The dates for Cowes Week 2018 are 4 August - 11 August.
